About
Hi, I'm Oliver Berliner. I'm an IT professional with nearly 20 years experience.
Starting at a very early age, I always had a passion for IT. Starting off with the old BBC and Acorn computers back at primary and secondary school and only getting to grips with Windows in my later teenage years.
I went to Stamford College to complete a BTEC National Diploma in IT as well as completing a 1 year Open University course after that for a Certificate in IT and computing. After my formal education I got my first job as a Laptop support Technician at Peterborough City Council and quickly found my self in a 3rd line server support role. I was the lead on implementing a EMC Clariion CX4 SAN attached to 7 x ESXi 4.0 hosts. This was my first taste of virtualisation technology and I never looked back.
Since Peterborough City Council I've had the pleasure of working for Associated British Foods in their Shared Service Centre for 7 years, completing a number of datacentre projects that the bulk of the ABF business units relied on for their day to day operations. Then I moved across to CDW for just over 3 years, 2 years in their Network Operations Centre as a VMware and Storage Engineer and a year in Professional Services as a Technical Consultant focussing on VMware, Dell VxRail and Nutanix deployments.
Now I'm a Senior Technical Consultant at Softcat's Datacentre Professional Services team still aligned to VMware, Dell VxRail and Nutanix. The work at Softcat is more varied than CDW so am looking forward to getting involved with different technologies and working with my new colleagues.
Along my professional career I've been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to pass a number of professional accreditations, they can be found on my Credly profile:
